DPC NA 2021/22 Tour 1: Regional Finals Preview
Looking ahead to February, the North American region has been heating up, with several teams vying for the throne to be considered the best in the area. After a series of exciting games, the DPC NA 2021/22 Tour 1: Regional Finals will be these teams’ first chance to win a title this year. The region has seemed to improve in a number of ways compared to previous years — with several teams capable of taking the title.
Evil Geniuses is one of those teams. Although there have been instances in the past where EG were considered far and away the strongest team in all of North America, the rise of teams within the region will make it more of a challenge. That doesn’t mean they aren’t capable of winning it all. Far from it.
EG still has a roster made up of some of the most talented and decorated players in the history of Dota 2. JerAx has brought incredible value to the lineup, and has been a win condition in a number of games. Although there were a few growing pains, EG certainly looks like one of the strongest teams in the region, and have the momentum to win the event.
However, there will be some challenges to getting there. Some of the other teams have proven to be very strong, and will be eager to take the title of best team in NA away from EG. This time, let’s look at those teams to discuss their strength, and if they can beat EG.
Although they are the least threatening of the teams that EG will face in the competition, they are not to be ignored in any way. They have proven to be able to punch above their weight on multiple occasions, and EG could be one of them. Perhaps the biggest focus for EG will be to make sure that Nicolas “Gunnar” Lopez does not have an opportunity to get too built up — he has proven to be very dangerous during the later stages of the game. If they make sure to shut him down in lane, they should be able to defeat 4 Zoomers.
Quincy Crew enters the event ranked as the best team in North America. They had the most success in the regular season of competition — but EG demonstrated the ability to succeed against them. Though it will not be a cake walk for EG to be able to repeat this result, if they stick with their solid teamwork and make sure to shut down Quinn “Quinn” Callahan, they should have no problems in taking them down once more.
The biggest challenge of all. With Team Undying beating them in their most recent encounter, and with the roster now having the support of TSM, this will be by far the hardest opponent for EG. However, they’ve done it before. In their last encounter, it was evident that EG did not prepare as much as possible, had they done more so they very well could have won. If they make sure to prepare as thoroughly for this matchup, they will be victorious.
