ESL Stockholm Groups Preview – Three Teams to Look Out For

After their impressive win over TSM and Quincy Crew at the DPC NA 2021/2022 Tour 2: Division I (ESL One Spring 2022), Evil Geniuses have the privilege of competing at the ESL Stockholm Major — one of the most prestigious events of the year. With several of the best teams in the world competing, an enthusiastic crowd at the Hovet Arena, and a healthy prize pool of $500,000, everything points to this being one of the most exciting esports events of the year.

It is the perfect first big test for EG in their goal to win The International. Up against them are a multitude of the best teams in the world — many of which they have not been able to practice against. Considering the bloodbath that has been at the top of North America, It will be exciting to see how the region stacks up to the rest of the world. Here are three of the teams that EG will have to look out for.

What can be said about this version of OG? Well, it’s probably not at the same level of the one’s that we have seen in the past (what teams truly rise to that level?) Still, though, OG is a fearsome team — not one that is to be taken lightly. Though the team didn’t have the easiest time at GAMERS GALAXY: Invitational Series Dubai 2022, they had their best result of the year at DPC WEU 2021/2022 Tour 2: Division I (DreamLeague Season 17). Still, though, the roster is somewhat inexperienced, and if EG is able to capitalize on that fact, they should have a good pathway to victory.

Though thankfully this T1 team is not as fearsome as the one that is seen in League of Legends, it is still a talented squad that EG will need to be wary of. Though they haven’t won any events this year — they are a fairly consistent team that has had solid result at four separate events throughout this year. EG needs to make sure that they secure early game advantages to throw T1 off of their game for a chance to win. Though it will be a challenging series of games, EG has the right set of tools to succeed.

BOOM Esports

Most likely, this will be the most challenging matchup for EG compared to all of the others that they will have to face in the group stage of this tournament. With a talented group of players, as well as one of the most brilliant minds in Dota with Chai “Mushi” Yee Fung — BOOM is one of the most intimidating teams in the world. They’ve already demonstrated their potential this year, considering the fact that they won GAMERS GALAXY: Invitational Series Dubai 2022 — the only big LAN event of this year. Though there’s no clear path to victory, perhaps focusing Saieful “Fbz” Ilham — the most tenured player and rock of the team — is that best move going forward.
