Evil Geniuses to rebuild – Crosshairs on the prize
Evil Geniuses have parted ways with “stanislaw” Jarguz, Owen “oBo” Schlatter, and Michał “MICHU” Müller. Between players burning out, stifled synergy and a myriad of other facets, this marks a moment of opportunity with an upcoming rebuild.
While we did see some flashes of brilliance at the major qualifier, especially against 00nation and Triumph, more doubt set in as they cleared the qualifier and made legends status. What we can take away from this qualifier was that Tsvetelin “CeRq” Dimitrov and Vincent “Brehze” Cayonte can turn it on, seemingly on command, posting up some amazing score lines during the tournament. However, there is a bright spot in that these two players were able to frag without having proper utility setups and supportive elements to enhance their game. If they can bring that same level to their new lineup, EG is going to be an absolute monster.
The biggest win perhaps is that Evil Geniuses now have the chance to rebuild around a solid duo with Brehze and CeRq. Both players have consistently put up solid numbers and were the best performers on EG at the PGL Stockholm Major. With a good base, EG and coach daps have the opportunity to create a marvelous 2022.
As the new changes to the game are slowly being mastered, and especially with Ancient being a map which has largely gone unstudied, EG have a great chance to restart and prove their place in the global rankings. They certainly have some challenges ahead with finding a new IGL to guide the team and bring the unit together. With the recent news that Nicholas “Nitr0” Cannella is possibly looking to come back to CS:GO, there could be an amazing opportunity for EG to pick him up and add some great veteran presence to help bring the team together. There is also another prospect in getting William “RUSH” Wierzba, which would definitely create a deadly lineup.
Evil Geniuses can now recharge after the major and get to the chalkboard on what they’re willing to bring to the table. EG are in a fantastic spot to take the competition by surprise, as many top teams are now eyeing how they can upheave Na’Vi, the major winners.
If EG strikes while the iron is hot, they could end up surprising the world.
