North America faces off at the Intel Extreme Masters Season XVI – Fall event.

With over 60 teams overall facing to make it into the playoffs bracket, each region must face off against teams from their own region in a group stage bracket where a round robin best-of-one determines whether you move onto the next stage.

NA has two groups, filled with six teams each. Of these two groups, Group B seems to be the more interesting one, as we know Team Liquid will win their group [Group A], with the extra playoff advancement most likely going to either Extremum.

Group B

Furia Esports, Evil Geniuses, 00Nation, GODSENT, Team One, and Triumph comprise Group B. Furia seems to be a shoe-in to make a top two spot within this group. Rank 14th player by HLTV.org Yuri “yuurih” Santos is currently sitting at a 1.15 rating, helping his team get wins and frags on the board, only flanked by Kaike “KSCERATO” Cerato, Rank 18th player by HLTV.org with a 1.28 rating currently.

Currently there isn’t really a strong team to contest them for 1st place in this group, but that brings the next question of, who gets spot number two?

00Nation are a brand new team, founded this year and having a core of Henrique “HEN1” Teles, Vito “kNgV-” Giuseppe, and Lucas “LUCAS1” Teles. The brothers have stuck together and look to create magic with 00Nation, and even though this is a new team, their lineup have all played together, so the initial teething phase shouldn’t exist with this team.

00Nation certainly has firepower, but it’s if they can achieve what they’ve done in the past, particularly during their MIBR phase.

Evil Geniuses are the next question mark on the docket because they are back with their full lineup. Peter “stanislaw” Jarguz” and Vincent “Brehze” Cayonte look to make EG come back with a full powered showing.

In particular, Brehze has the chance to come in fresh and bring in the firepower many have come to know him for. With stanislaw’s head clear, he has the chance to put some new plays out there, especially considering the new patch.

With MICHU and oBo looking good in their past tournament in BLAST Premier Fall Groups, even though EG went 0-6, there were some good takeaways as far as player individual performance.

If stanislaw can wrangle the EG squad together, and Brehze can continue to click on heads, this is a major dark horse for the group as many teams could initially underestimate them. Not to mention, EG are fighting for a Legend status for the upcoming PGL Major Stockholm.

If they can batter down 00Nation and take the 2nd spot of the group, they can keep their Challenger spot heading into PGL.

GODSENT, Triumph and TeamOne are all looking to see if they can fight for the 2nd and 3rd spot. GODSENT look like the only other major competitor in this group, with the likes of Epitacio “TACO” de Melo, and Joao “felps” Vasconcellos on the lineup, they’ve had a 78% win rate in the last three months. They look to try and battle the other Brazilian teams to see if at least one of them can make a berth into the playoffs.

IEM Fall Group Stage for North America kicks off on Tuesday at 12 PM PST, 3 PM EST with Tean Liquid versus Bad News Bears. Group B’s first match starts at 1:15 PM PST, 4 PM EST with GODSENT vs FURIA Esports.

The ever important match of Evil Geniuses versus 00Nation starts at 3:45 PM PST, 6:45 PM EST.
