Shox opens up about why he was benched from Team Liquid
In early 2022, Team Liquid’s Counter-Strike: Global Offensive squad wanted to make some big signings. Liquid retained Jonathan ‘ElIGE’ Jablonowski and Keith ‘NAF’ Markovic. In hopes of turning the team around, they had big signings including Richard ‘shox’ Papillon.
Joining those three players were Josh ‘oSee’ Ohm and a returning Nick ‘nitr0’ Canella who was fresh off a year-long stint in Valorant. While they were a promising team coached by Eric ‘adreN’ Hoag, the Liquid squad did not make a big splash as they anticipated. They have fallen short of their goals in multiple tournaments and often bowed out of events as they were seen as a non-threat to the top teams.
This has led to the benching of both adreN and shox. As you look into the latest CSGO latest news, you can see that Damian ‘daps’ Steele and Mareks ‘YEKINDAR’ Gaļinskis serving as coach and player respectively.
Shox wanted to help North America improve
While most people in the CSGO community look down on NA as a region, they have some promising players. Shox wanted to be one of the Europeans who had a hand in helping NA improve but sadly, it was not meant to be for shox and NA to succeed.
The Frenchman said, ‘My main goal was to bring back the maximum of experience that I have accumulated over the years. Europe being ahead in CS compared to the US, I wanted to help them catch up and become as competitive as possible in the current meta’.
Shox struggled with moving around all the time
When various tournaments forced Liquid to move around Europe, traveling has worn down shox. He had to move around both Europe and NA which was a tough obstacle for a foreign player.
Shox himself talked about how he struggles with traveling all the time which was a challenging performance. He said, ‘As a consequence, I find myself having my life in France but having the life and agenda of an American player which immediately makes things very very complicated. I’m always on the move, I have no time to relax and recover from this overloaded CS schedule’.
Shox will land on his feet
Shox still has a winning résumé which is a reason why most CSGO fans are still high on his chances of joining a team. As soon as he gets released from his Liquid contract, he will most likely get offers. He still has a readymade region in Europe where he can go and have no issues with the team composition and scheduling. You should expect shox to appear on the Bitcasino CSGO news section sometime soon because he will not be a free agent for long due to the value he brings to any team in NA, Europe, or any other region.
