Team Liquid signs new deal with daps

Team Liquid shocked the CS:GO community with a huge move to sign Damian ‘daps’ Steele as their new head coach for the rest of the 2022 season. This comes after the squad parted ways with former coach Eric ‘adreN’ Hoag and star player Richard ‘Shox’ Papillon.

There are a lot of rumours surrounding Team Liquid’s actual push to win a lot of CS:GO Majors in the coming months, and it seems that the team has taken a step back with their coach and star player now out of the squad for good.

Liquid made it to the headlines of most CSGO latest news with this move. It was a shocking decision from the team especially after they decided that it would be a big change that would drastically affect their future. Adding daps was like a band aid on an open wound, which means there is still more to expect from Team Liquid in the coming months.

Lack of promising results with adreN

One of the biggest factors for the signing was the fact that Team Liquid has not made any headway to revive its hype in CS:GO over the past few months. For starters, the team already had a rough start to 2022 with a lack of competitive approach against the best squads in the world, and they are yet to win any Major so far.

Under adreN’s lead, Liquid did not prosper that much. Since taking the helm in May 2021, the coach left without winning any tournaments for the second time in his career.

This is more of a win for Liquid who has been looking for a fresh start after all those losses with adreN in the past year and to start 2022. That means that Team Liquid is now expected to come up with a revamp, either on their roster or on the squad positions they have right now.

A new era with daps

Signing daps marks begins a new dawn for Team Liquid. This will also be a reunion for the team since he played for Liquid in 2015. On top of that, the incoming coach has a lot of experience especially with his runs with OpTic Gaming in 2016 and NRG Esports between 2016 and 2017.

Daps has also coached NRG and the Evil Geniuses in the past. The coach even considered playing Riot Games’ Valorant from 2020 to 2021 but then moved back to the game he loved the most. The Canadian coach has been on the sidelines since April 2022, and now he is pleased to have his chance at coaching with Team Liquid.

‘I’m grateful to get another opportunity to coach and will do everything I can to make this team succeed’, daps said on his post on a social media site.

The future for Team Liquid

Following their poor results especially in the recent PGL Antwerp Major, Team Liquid is still expected to make one more move that will complete their roster again. The team needs a new fifth player to replace Shox after he left the squad.

The next event that Team Liquid is set to play in is at IEM Cologne, which is set to be played on July 5 to 17. This just means that there is still plenty of time for the team to consider their options.

Team Liquid will be ringing all over the CSGO latest news once more as soon as they make their move. For now, the team is glad to have a capable roster at the ready along with a coach they are familiar with.
